Bone broth is one of the easiest recipes you can make. It is simple, rich in flavor and nutrients and perfect for warming up on a cold day. Try using as the base for soups, stews or sauces (I have even used it to make a healthy jello gummy!)
You can use whatever bones you happen to have, and both a slow cooker/Crock pot or InstaPot work well.
Ingredients
3 lbs of bones (if they still have some meat on them even better)
¼ c apple cider vinegar
1 stalk celery, chopped
1 large carrot, chopped
1 onion, chopped
2 bay leaves
1 Tbsp black pepper
1-2 tsp salt
Instructions
Crock-Pot
- Add all ingredients to slow cooker/Crock pot
- Add water to cover bones by 1-2”
- Cook on low heat for 17 hrs
- Once done strain out all of the bones and vegetables and let broth cool
- Once cool, strain off fat and store in sealable jars for up to 2 weeks
InstaPot
- Add all ingredients to instapot
- Add water to the max line
- Cook on manual for 200 minutes
- Release steam or let sit to cool
- Once you’re able to open the lid, strain out all of the bones and vegetables and let broth cool
- Once cool, strain off fat and store in sealable jars for up to 2 weeks
