Welcome Dr Charity!! – Dr Wendy Davis ND

Welcome Dr Charity!!

Hi, I am Dr. Charity Thiessen, ND. I am passionate about every person becoming the healthiest version of themselves. The call to work in the healing profession has been strong my entire life and practicing as a Naturopathic Doctor has been the fulfillment of that calling. I am a lifelong learner (meaning a total nerd), and am always seeking out the best tools and strategies to support my patients in their healing.

The focus of my practice is resilient nervous systems and healthy brains. Our autonomic nervous system influences our body’s function on every level, mainly through the balance between “fight and flight” and “rest and digest.”  Our digestion, blood pressure, immune system, hormones, blood sugar as well as our mood, mental health, and every other system in our body is influenced by this balance. In order for us to access our body’s innate ability to heal we have to be able to move into our “rest and digest” or parasympathetic nervous system state more often than not.

The main tools I use for this are  Somatic Experiencing® (SE) and Physical medicine.

Somatic Experiencing®, is a powerful body based therapy that helps to restore flexibility to the nervous system; as well as physical medicine, homeopathy, plant medicines, nutrition, food intolerance testing, detoxification, nutrient supplementation, and restoring the foundations of health.

Some of the conditions that I emphasize in practice are:

  • Concussions and Traumatic brain injuries
  • Anxiety, depression, ADD/ADHD, PTSD and other mental health complaints
  • Autoimmune conditions
  • Fatigue
  • Digestive complaints
  • Cardiovascular health
  • Acute complaints: urinary problems, sinus issues, vaginal infections, etc.
  • Pediatric complaints: acute illness (i.e. ear infections), eczema, asthma, digestive issues, ADD/ADHD, etc.

Physical Medicine:

I also offer very unique and individualized physical medicine treatments drawing from multiple different modalities including: Swedish massage, deep tissue and trigger point massage, therapeutic touch, Traeger-like work, post-isometric relaxation, and manipulation. She also integrates pain education, somatic experiencing®, nutrition, herbs, and homeopathy when indicated for a truly holistic approach for pain issues and injuries (old and new), or for balancing and general wellbeing.

I am a huge proponent of lifestyle being a foundational component for all my patients, and believe that doing healthy things is necessary for being healthy. Lifestyle happens within a context, and I work with each patient to find what is already supporting them as well as what is undermining their health, to create strategic, individualized, and sustainable plans.

I received my Naturopathic Doctorate at NUNM in Portland, Oregon along with a master’s in global health, and my bachelors in physiology and pharmacology from the U of S. I bring a wealth of experience into my everyday practice from extensive international travel doing medical work and multiple years working in First Nations communities.

Prior to starting at Harmony Health I operated a traveling clinic which served multiple locations in rural Saskatchewan, and I am looking forward to continuing to practice in a small town setting. I am a home grown Saskatchewan girl, and you can still find me helping with a branding or loping cutting horses on the weekend.

Dr Charity will be starting at the clinic Wednesday September 6th, please cake the clinic at 306-224-0012 to book in!
