Essential Oils for Improved Mood and Immune Support

There is never a bad time to diffuse essential oils, but the times leading up to and including the holidays are one of the best times. Not only do essential oils help to improve our moods, they also offer immune support and protection. Immune Protect This is an oil I diffuse pretty much every day all winter long.  The oils in this blend were created from research recorded in the archives of the British Museum library about a group of 14th century European perfumers and spice traders (and some thieves as well) who, during the Black Plague, rubbed oils on themselves and on masks while they robbed the dead and dying.  Today it is still used to help ward off...

A Bit of Extra Support for This Time of Year

Reduce anxiety, improve energy and reduce colds and flu. Kava Calm Px and Pascoflair Anxiety is a common condition that seems to creep into high gear at this time of year. These are my two favorite go-to’s that help reduce stress and anxiety, safely and effectively. Kava Calm Px is incredibly effective for healthy neurotransmitter support while promoting a state of relaxation. Preliminary research suggests that kava supports healthy GABA activity by interacting with its receptors. Kavalactones have been demonstrated in studies to cross the blood-brain barrier, which explain their rapid effects. Kava is an excellent addition to a daily stress management program and also helps to reduce insomnia. ** Please contact the clinic to order ** Pascoflair is a long-standing...

A Common Over the Counter Medication that You Need to Avoid and Healthy Alternatives

Phenylephrine, a popular ingredient in many over-the-counter allergy and cold medicines, is ineffective in tablet form, an independent advisory committee to the US Food and Drug Administration found earlier this year. Phenylephrine became the main ingredient in over-the-counter decongestants in the U.S. after pseudoephedrine, another drug, was restricted because it can be used to make methamphetamine. Phenylephrine is also found in many decongestants in Canada, including Nyquil, though pseudoephedrine is still found in others, such as Sudafed. Over the years, numerous studies have questioned the benefits of phenylephrine, finding it no better than a placebo in trials.  The FDA advisory panel challenged the drug's effectiveness in 2007, but the regulator allowed the products to remain on the market pending additional research....

DIRTY DOZEN ENDOCRINE DISRUPTORS12 Hormone-Altering Chemicals and How to Avoid Them There is no end to the tricks that endocrine disruptors can play on our bodies: increasing production of certain hormones; decreasing production of others; imitating hormones; turning one hormone into another; interfering with hormone signaling; telling cells to die prematurely; competing with essential nutrients; binding to essential hormones; accumulating in organs that produce hormones. Here are 12 of the worst hormone disruptors, how they do their dirty deeds, and some tips on how to avoid them. BPA (BisPhenol-A) Some may say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but do you really want a chemical used in plastics imitating the sex hormone estrogen in your body? No! Unfortunately,...
